A Myrtle Beach Tradition for 50+ Years

Art in the Park has been a Myrtle Beach tradition since the early 1970s, and the Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild still organizes it today. It’s a juried show, which means artists are selected in advance, so you can expect a high-quality mix of work.
The best part is the conversation. Instead of looking at art behind glass in a gallery, you can walk through outdoor artist booths, ask how a piece was made, and hear the story behind it. Many artists are happy to talk about their process, and some take custom requests.
What You’ll Find
Whether you’re an experienced collector or just want a unique keepsake, there’s a wide range to browse:
- Paintings and fine art
- Photography
- Handmade jewelry
- Woodworking
- Pottery and ceramics
- Glass art
- Sculpture
- Fabric and textile art
- Metal art
- Mixed-media pieces
The show puts the focus on original work made by the exhibiting artists, which gives it a fine-art feel you won’t get from a typical craft fair.
Why Market Common Makes It Easy
Valor Park sits in the middle of Market Common, a walkable Myrtle Beach neighborhood with shops, restaurants, and green space. The show itself is all about art, so plan to eat before or after. When you’ve finished browsing the booths, you can grab lunch, walk around the district, or relax in the park. It’s an easy way to fill a half day or a full one.
Good for Couples, Families, and Photographers
You don’t have to be a serious collector to enjoy it. Kids can enjoy the colors and the unusual handmade pieces, and adults can shop for home decor, gifts, jewelry, and photography. Buying from independent artists also means you’re supporting the people who made the work.
Tips for Your Visit
- Come early for the best selection, or later in the day for a quieter stroll.
- Bring a bag for small purchases like jewelry, prints, and ornaments.
- Plan to eat nearby. Market Common has restaurants within walking distance.
- Check the weather. It’s an outdoor show, so check the forecast before you go.
