• Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 26, 2026
  • Weather: Highs in the mid-60s, cool evenings, quiet beaches
  • The setup: Fully stocked kitchens and oceanfront balconies
  • Nearby: Turkey Trots, holiday lights, shows, and Black Friday shopping

Imagine thanksgiving without the cleanup.

Moreover, the crowded living room and the drive home are avoided.

This year, trade the usual dinner table for an ocean view, and start the holiday season on the Grand Strand.

Cook Together in a Well‑Stocked Kitchen

The best Thanksgivings happen around the stove. Our fully stocked kitchens give your family room to cook a real holiday dinner together, instead of piecing a meal together from takeout. Everyone can take a dish, from the turkey to the pies.

  • Shop early. Stock up before Thanksgiving week. Our grocery guide shows where to shop near your rental.
  • Check your listing. Oven size and cookware vary by home, so confirm that your kitchen fits the size of meal you’re planning.
  • Keep a backup. If you’d rather skip cooking, see the dinner options below.

Dine With an Ocean View

One of the best parts of a beachfront stay is the balcony.

Our oceanfront balconies are perfect for a quiet morning coffee.

Moreover, they offer sunrise views over the Atlantic and a place for fresh air between courses.

The beach faces east, so sunrise is the show here.

Browse our beachfront rentals to find a balcony with a view.

Start the Day With a Turkey Trot

Additionally, earn your dinner with a Thanksgiving morning 5K. Three local races start at 8:00 AM on November 26:

  • Myrtle Beach Turkey Trot: The 20th annual race at The Market Common, followed by the free Gobbler Kids’ Dash at 9:00 AM.
  • North Myrtle Beach Turkey Trot: The 8th annual race at Barefoot Landing, with a kids’ dash at 9:00 AM. Costumes are encouraged.
  • Surfside Beach Turkey Trot: The 17th annual race along Ocean Boulevard.

Registration details are on each race’s official page, so check before race day.

Prefer Not to Cook?

Several Grand Strand restaurants serve Thanksgiving dinner, including buffets and family-style feasts at Amalfi, Black Drum, and House of Blues.

Additionally, menus and reservations vary, so book early and confirm details.

Planning other meals during your stay is common. Our Restaurant Row guide has plenty of options.

Thanksgiving Weekend Plans

  • The Great Christmas Light Show: It opens November 23 at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex, but the drive-through is closed on Thanksgiving Day. It reopens November 27, when Santa’s Village opens for the season. See the official event page.

What to Pack

November highs sit in the mid-60s.

Additionally, with cooler nights, pack layers and a warm jacket for the balcony.

The ocean is in the low 60s.

Therefore, this is a season for beach walks, not swims.

Our packing list covers the basics for thanksgiving.

Why Gather at the Beach

For thanksgiving, holiday trips are about time together, and a rental gives your family room to spend it.

Moreover, everyone has space to spread out.

The kitchen becomes the heart of the day.

The beach is right outside for a walk after dinner.

If you plan ahead, our booking timing guide explains how far ahead to book.

Additionally, our season-by-season guide shows what fall and winter are like.
